International & Cult Film Reviews

Raquel Welch Furkini

Tired of the stale, CGI infused, constantly rebooted Hollywood drivel? Tired of overpaid actors and actresses complaining about their multi-million dollar salaries? Tired of films constantly pushing a onesided policital and/or social agenda? Welcome to the world of cult cinema, where the budgets were lower than the craft services cost on a film today, where the actors actually worked hard and got paid very little, and where the stories were actually somewhat original. We were Hollywood blockbuster lemmings too once, then we discovered a whole new world of cinema and we haven't looked back since! Join us in cutting the Hollywood cord, and enjoy a world of film that's pre PC and SJW infected. Welcome to our International & Cult Film blog, here we will feature our thoughts on a wide variety of films with a focus on those from the 1950's-1980's from all around the world.

Check out our Actress Spotlight series, which will be a mini series within this blog that will highlight and maybe introduce you to many of the actresses of European cult films. If you're a Barbara Bouchet fan, we have an entire separate blog series dedicated just to her, you can check that out HERE! This blog is just kicking off so check back often and have your eyes opened to a whole new world!

Totally Blonde (2001) So Blonde It's Good November 24, 2022 12:43

Totally Blonde, morphs the popular phrase, "so bad it's good", into "so blonde it's good".  Whether it's supposed to be a farce on the popular film genre, or an actual bizarre attempt at a legit romantic comedy, it oddly enough has some redeeming factors even though it's a complete mess of a film.

Up Pompeii (1971) It Happened One Orgy June 17, 2022 08:00

British humor at it's best (or worse) depending on how juvenile you feel or enjoy a good repetitive orgy joke.  Up Pompeii has a bunch of one sided one liners that can get old fast, faster than the screen time of Julie Ege, who let's admit from the promotional photos is the reason most people want to watch this.

Sex Kittens Go To College (1960) Mamie And The Monkey March 26, 2022 08:00

With Mamie giving a solid performance, and being pleasant on the eyes, followed by a chimp who pops up throughout the film providing the best laughs, Sex Kittens Go To College straddles my list of "so bad, it's good" titles.

Speed Review: Dracula Blows His Cool (1979) While The Countess Blows Your... November 19, 2021 12:11

Dracula Blows His Cool has a decent balance of camp, vampire film tropes, a steady flow of female eye candy, and the beautiful Austrian backdrop helping to keep the pace of the film and stimulate most viewers (at least the male ones).

La riffa [The Raffle] (1991) Widowed Wares For Sale October 8, 2021 08:00

The Raffle is surprisingly entertaining.  Most reviews write it off as odd or unfunny, but I think they failed to understand this film is not meant to be your typical Italian comedy (which I've seen my fair share of and typically am not a fan) this is much more of a "dramedy" or dark comedy, somewhere between Ostinato destino, which Bellucci would star in following this film, and the much more dramatic Vita coi figli.

Deathstalker II (1987) Swords & Slapstick August 3, 2020 10:30

Deathstalker II tries too hard to be funny instead of just being a low budget fantasy adventure film that is funny based on it's own mediocrity, which is what I expect from the Deathstalker franchise.

Ostinato destino (1992) - The Husband Trap November 6, 2019 09:00

Ostinato destino (Wayward Destiny) is reminiscent of an adult version of The Parent Trap, starring Monica Bellucci in a dual role of good and evil twin sisters Marina and Angela who attempt to pull a temporary switcheroo leading to wild hijinks and unanticipated romance.

Career Opportunities (1991) - Giddyup! July 24, 2019 08:00

Career Opportunities is a strange little early 90's comedy that has a lot of charm and proves Jennifer Connelly can look sexy doing just about anything.

Casanova '70 (1965) - Marisa Mell Saves The Day September 15, 2018 12:30

Marisa Mell claimed this to be one of her most enjoyable film roles, taking into consideration her personality and hectic love life it's not surprising. Her performance manages to save this film from being another bland Italian comedy.

What happens when the great 007 meets his untimely demise?  Where does the British Secret Service turn to replace 007?  Well the unemployment office of course!  Dirk Bogarde and the lovely Sylva Koscina star in this campy spy comedy about an out of work writer who unknowingly accepts the job of an undercover spy.

Siamo uomini o caporali [Are We Men or Corporals?] (1955) - Toto Takes On The Man June 24, 2018 08:00

Italian comedy icon Toto Esposito can survive WWII, the Nazis and a life of poverty in Are We Men or Corporals, but can he survive a broken heart and the constant feeling of "the man" (or Corporals) with their foot on his face shoving him back down?  The film also features the first appearance of cult film icon Sylva Koscina.
