Album Reviews

We not only sell vinyl, but we're collector's as well! This blog will feature some albums (mostly available on vinyl) that we own in our personal collections. A few things to note: We are not music critics nor do we wish to be. Our opinons are purely based on our tastes and ratings will not be techically based, but based on our overall opinon of the album. If you're looking for a lot of techical mumbo jumbo you won't find it here. Our goal is to introduce you to unique music from around the world and share our passion for searching it out. Our tastes are not overly mainstream, ocassionally we might review a mega popular artist but a lot of our tastes explore music that is outside American popular music.

Our goal is to post a new album or music related post every Monday!

Miso – Miso All Access (2017) 1st Single Album August 14, 2019 08:00

If you're a Miso fan, or just a fan of Korean rap this release is worth adding to your collection, why people are sleeping on Miso is a mystery to me, this girl should have a series of albums out by now.

Romanian stunner INNA, breaks onto the international music scene with Hot, an album that's very different from what she'll eventually become known for.  Is the album as "hot" as the title suggests or is it a mild success on the eventual road to international pop super-stardom?

Video Vibes: Hwasa [화사] -Twit [멍청이] (2019) July 29, 2019 08:00

Mamamoo's Hwasa drops her first solo single with Twit, a K-pop song that rivals just about anything I've seen put out by the likes of Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and all the other American "twit" pop stars.

Video Vibes: Janet Jackson Feat. Daddy Yankee - Made For Now (2018) August 18, 2018 12:21

I enjoy a good beat myself but I expect more from an artist like Janet Jackson whose been in the business thirty plus years, and is in a place in her career where she has nothing to lose in taking some risks and doing something different than everyone else.  But conforming to an already stale formula of essentially looping yourself isn't going to revive her career...

Video Vibes: Sabrina Carpenter - Almost Love (2018) R3HAB Remix August 4, 2018 18:35

Sabrina Carpenter becomes the latest Disney actress to shed her "House of Mouse" skin and sow her wild oats in an attempt to make it big in the music industry.  She's got the talent, but in today's pop market talent really doesn't matter, it's turned into a image contest and who can outdo the next person.  Can she avoid falling off the deep end like Miley Cyrus?

Review: Fuz - Sugar Coated (2015) July 30, 2018 11:31

On the surface and by the looks of the cover you'd expect this to be some 80's style synth-pop or "popish" independent rock.  Likely never assuming a group of scrawny girls, who by all appearances look straight out of a European version of The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants, would have much rock in them.

Review: Elliphant - A Good Idea (2013) January 5, 2016 03:15

Whoever thought Sweden could top Ikea and Swedish meatballs?  Well now they have.  I think it's safe to say Elliphant likely breaks the mold of a typical hip hop / reggae artist.

If you're looking for a solid gritty, southern blues/rock album look no further.  Love Stuff drips with that 1970's feel yet manages to still seamlessly mix in modern day aspects creating a unique experience that's not often explored anymore.

Review: Jack White - Live From Bonnaroo 2014 (2014) August 3, 2015 11:08

Packaged in a stunning box and accompanied with the live performance on DVD, as well as the typical extras like replica poster from the event and exclusive photos.  At the $60 subscription price this set is a no-brainer, even if you're not particularly a fan of live albums.

Review: The Pretty Reckless - Going To Hell (2014) July 29, 2015 09:58

Don't let Momsen's image dissuade you from at least giving a few tracks a listen, she's got some talent, both in the voice department as well as having written a lot of the tracks.

Review: Marisa Mell - Lady O / Slave Of Love (1981) July 21, 2015 09:16

While by no means a groundbreaking single, my interest in Marisa Mell, as an actress, and this record launched my journey into vinyl.
